Great point! And it reminds me that it's also sometimes about persistence - I know lots of people who when they started on Twitter, didn't really get it, but absolutely love using it now.

This is a very good point Claire and I do this too. Sometimes we don't get started because we think it will be too time consuming or too difficult to achieve. But it may be easier than we think.
For example, when using a new social media or web tool for the first time, it takes a bit of time to set it up and understand how it works. Thankfully, after a little while, it becomes much easier. In this case, the baby steps approach is helpful.

Hi Jason

Thank you for your comment. It can be useful whatever our actual role is to be able to take that step back and remember what we already know, that can be useful in a different situation like using social media. There are lots of coaches on Twitter so it's also a great place to connect.

Hi Claire

Thanks for this insightful post. Although I've only been active on Twitter for the last few months, you've not only highlighted the parallels between coaching and social media (and perhaps businesses in general), but also reminded me of how I need to maintain these principles for myself and my coaching business, as well as my
clients. Thanks again.

As social media merketing is still gaining traction globally, many organisations are still in the process of creating a digital marketing manager or social media marketing manager role, so it is definitely worth you while letting prospective employers out there now what your capable of in the social media space.

Good post Claire! Executive events are still way up there in terms of marketing. People still want to meet with people in the flesh. Inviting social media influencers to these events closes the social media gap.

Hi Marion

thanks for your comment! A planning session is a great way to start the week - especially planning in the non business as well - I often advise people to remember all this is out of our day and we want to work in a sustainable way. A timer is useful - I have one as well, just a standard kitchen timer. It is a good way to promote getting things done in a set amount of time - plus can be a good reminder of how fast time goes!

Hi Claire

I start my week off with a planning session. I decide what I really want to achieve to make the week feel worthwhile and profitable.

If I am working on a project I have a number of smaller targets in place. I am a visual person so everything is displayed on my target board above my desk. I also build in the non business things I want to do too.

Recently I bought a timer which I use to limit the time I spend on social media and also to break the day up into sections. When the buzzer goes off it is time to get up from the desk and take a break.

Often when I come back to something I have much better idea of what I want to do. I find that I can do more in less time because I feel refreshed.

Thank you for an enjoyable post
